Get a second shooter regardless of the circumstances.
One of the most basic rules of wedding photography is the requirement of a second everything on the photography side of things. You will technically need a second set of photography gear in order for you to be insured enough to bank your wedding photography coverage on it. As night follows day, because of the fact that you will need a second camera gear in the process, you will also need a second shoot to facilitate everything for you. You have to keep in mind of the fact that you will be having a lot on your mind and a lot on your task list during the actual wedding day event. The last thing that you want to do is to be all over the place and miss out on some really important moments because you were mistakenly somewhere else. Having someone else with you will really work out the problems for you. If you cannot afford it just yet, one simple solution would be for you to trade services with your fellow wedding photography friends and acquaintances. You can be the second shooter in their wedding photography gigs and in return, they should be the second shooter in yours. The solution is pretty simple and straightforward and it comes at no additional cost.
Do not run out of batteries and memory cards.
Preparation is key when it comes to wedding photography. And for as far as the memory cards and the camera batteries are involved, there is no such thing as being over prepared when it all comes down to it. Pack up for twice the amount of memory space you will need. Memory cards are pretty light and tiny and they consume next to zero space. You can just slip it in a bag pocket somewhere and be done with it. Make sure that they are all wiped clean to ensure that the space will be maximized for the coverage. Prepare about two extra camera batteries per camera and make sure that they are all fully charged. You have no excuse to your clients if you run out of either batteries or memory space so you might as well make sure that this is something that does not happen to you one way or the other.
Do not miss the family photos.
One of the most important moments in the wedding that you should not miss out on at all would have to be the aspect of photographing the bride with members coming from her side of immediate family and photographing the groom with his side of family members as well. Coordinate this well ahead of time with your go-to person (preferably someone who knows everyone, or one from each side of the family) to make sure that nothing and no one is left out. If there is something that you will need to make sure is done right by all means, then it would have to be this.
Relax and just be yourself.
Don’t try too hard to get people to like you. Chances are, they already like you just fine just the way you are. Just be friendly and engaging and more importantly, treat people with respect and they will have no trouble reciprocating it.
